Making My Resolutions

Happy New Year's!  At the risk of appearing "corny", I've decided to let my readers have a peek at a few of my goals for the upcoming year.  While most people make New Year's resolutions, I have to admit it's something that I've never really done.  I do make resolutions, but they seem to come sporadically throughout the course of the year.  I know I'm being at bit paranoid, but since the year 2013 has a bit of an unlucky sound to it, I've decided that I'm going to do what I can to get off on the right foot!

Last year brought many HUGE changes to my little family, many of which my husband and I set into place to help secure our future together and build on dreams that we've had for a while.  Now that the initial steps have been taken, it's time to actually make them work!  In effort to do just that, here are a few of my goals for 2013:

Financial Goals: Live off of one income and save the other.  In March of 2012 I left a nice paying professional position and was unemployed for several months while we settled into our new community. In July, I started my new part-time, entry level position in a field that is completely new to me. The ultimate goal was to adjust our lifestyle to that of one income so that I could feasibly stay at home when we started our family.  Since we don't have children yet, and when we do start our family it's going to be a costly endeavor due to my infertility issues, we are using my income to quickly build up our savings. Last year, we made firm steps to downsize our lifestyle to make this goal a possibility (i.e. moving to a much smaller home in a more affordable community) but the move cost us much of our savings and so we haven't really been living off of my husband's income alone as we had planned.  We plan on getting started with the New Year and hope to be able to save a nice chunk of change by the end of 2013.

Health Goals:  Yes, I know...I know.  How cliché! This year I really mean it though (as if you haven't heard that one before!).  This year it's different though.  I'm no longer making it a goal to have a body like Jennifer Aniston's by June; my goal in previous years.  Rather, I want to simply maintain a healthy lifestyle to help control my symptoms of PCOS.  I'm planning on upping my activity level and cleaning up my diet.  Not too farfetched, I think.

Family Goals: This one should be the easiest one, but sometimes, in reality is the hardest.  I want to be a greater blessing to my wonderful, supportive husband. Over the past two and a half years, we've struggled with infertility but he's been a trouper!  Through every case of crazy that I tossed him, he remained so sweet and supportive.  This year, I want to make an extra effort to lift him up and show him just how grateful I am to have him in my life.

That's it!  I think they are totally doable goals.  I'm already active and a fairly healthy eater, so it shouldn't be too hard to just get a little better...right?  I'm a bit of a tight wad by nature and I already try to control my inner banshee when my hubby is around.  My resolutions are more improvements to what I already have rather than completely new changes.  Should be a piece of cake!

What are your New Year's resolutions?
